The primary aim of The Hive is to act in the best possible interests of the housemates, and to maintain an active involvement in their lives and the way that the home away from the family home is run. The members and Board of this co-operative are the six parents of the families involved. The families, on behalf of their adult children, effectively deliver policies and practices, appoint staff who are required on a 24/7 basis and perform hands on roles in the home. By the families having regular involvement and contact with the two young men and staff, the person-centred and safety needs of the young men are met. It also means the time that the families have the young men are quality time.
